Porto Clementino, Tuscany, Italy
I shot a timelapse sequence yesterday evening. This is one frame taken out of the sequence and developed separately.
A few days later the storm, heralded by those cirrus clouds, hit the west coast of France. Fortunately by this time we had already left the island.
Phare de Nividic, Pointe de Pern, Ile D´Ouessant (Ushant), Brittany, France.
I´ve just returned from a wonderful trip to Brittany, France. During which I spent a week on the island of Ouessant or, as it is mentioned on the BBC shipping forecast, Ushant. The Bay of Biscay is well known for it´s treacherous weather and this island certainly has a very tricky coast for shipping! It can be reached by a roughly 2 hour ferry trip from Brest.
Every now and again I´ll have a dig though my old transparencies. Yesterday was one of those days and I decided to scan a few of them. There all of me, which in itself is unusual because I´m usually on the other side of the camera. So here they are, they´re all from the 1980s and taken in the Mont Blanc Range of the European Alps.
Starting the second half of the North Face route on the Col du Plan (3475m) D, 600m. The first half was a pleasant rock ridge at about Grade III. which led directly onto the ice. The ice was in good condition and it was a pleasure to climb up into the warming sun. The route comes out onto the Plan-Midi Ridge. We finished off by traversing the ridge up to the Aiguille du Midi. I know the exposure is all over the place in this transparency – but it´s a great memory.
Crossing the slab on the South-East Ridge, PD, of the Tour Ronde (3792m), Aiguille de la Brenva Group, Mont Blanc Range. I´m sporting my Koflach plastic boots – they might have been the best mountaineering boots I´ve ever owned!
Crossing the Argentiére Glacier on the way to the hut. Checking out those three imposing north faces – directly above me is Aig. Verte 4122m, left is the Les Droites 4000m and far left Les Courtes 3856m. That was our mountain for the next day. And that next day is covered in a blog post from 2014
