The Haast Pass is one of three passes which cross the Southern Alps, the other two being, Lewis and Arthur´s Passes, and is named for the 19th century explorer and geologist, Julius von Haast. We took the pass on the way down to Makarora. It was a day of low cloud which drifted through the forests, sometimes revealing but mostly hiding the tops. This is the classic water shot, long exposure of 1.6 seconds due to a small aperture and an ND filter.
